A day in the life...

Semi-organised chaos in the food tent, where we also provide daily living essentials (shampoo, sanitary products, reading glasses of various strengths, to name a few) and always some nice things for children. Today there was a huge new influx of refugees, prepared to wait for hours in a queue for a few of the things we take for granted. There is really no describing it but a few photos are attached.

In the afternoon-evening we helped to complete the visa application for the first family we've arranged to come to Trawden, which took more than 2 hours, even with our help, without which they wouldn't have stood a chance. No wonder that the UK has only accepted around 20,000 visa applications, whereas 150,000 people have applied to the refugee sponsorship scheme.

Although a cheer went up in Starbucks, Krakow, when we had finished, there was still a huge sense of sadness that they are having to leave their home, country, friends and family behind.

We urge everyone to write to their MP to ask for the visa application to be simplified, and also, for support to make links between refugees and people in the UK who wish to offer them a temporary home.
