One thing leads to another...
£600 spent. Which is always good in theory....but wait till you get to the checkout!!. But with a strange good humour it's sorted. And now Ukrainian volunteers help the giving out. Works better. Still a bit of chaos.
There is never a day without sadnesses though. Today it was a psychologist, working with children with terminal cancer. Hospital evacuated. Children sent all over the place...she said she has lost everything her children, her home, her security. Not sure where her husband is. We were sat at a table talking.... I have not the words to describe her face....exhaustion, fear, sadness. Eyes that bore into you, as if asking why, and me having no answer. We both pick ourselves up from the emotion. She smiles, says thank you, to me(for what). And walks out of the tent.....will I ever see this person again...
And yet, with all this sadness, the next person I meet in my search for help, I meet a Polish woman (via a priest) don't ask, who has known me for 30 seconds, says she will drive me and a family on a 7 hour round trip, (because the disgraceful British government demands that a dangerous 4 and 7 year old have biometric testing) and invites us to join us for Easter breakfast....go figure....
Think you are doing an incredible job in such difficult circumstances. Only hope that we can help by taking in a Ukrainian family here in England but we need your help in making this possible.
