The beauty of language....or at least a Yorkshire version of it.....
Today was the start of the language school in Krakow, taught by me. It's amazing how quickly 2 hours can go by. Slavonic languages are very different from ours and some of the older attendees really struggled. Still they persisted. The younger ones seemed more at ease, often having studied English at school. There was a lot of laughter, which has to be good. Translations can be very amusing. We discussed the jobs we had....one tried to say he was a butcher, but when he put it into Google translate it came back as warmonger. I will be doing this teaching 4 days a week. We hope that they all don't turn out with Yorkshire accents!
The tent was manic today, very busy round our little Homes 4 Ukraine scheme poster. Wonder if what's happening in the east of Ukraine is making more refugees come.
The extremely long days continue here. However, you know it's all worthwhile when the first Ukrainian child starts at Trawden primary school. A smile from ear to ear in her new school uniform. Matched only by the smiles of the writers here.
This is a picture of a church we sometimes walk by, on the way into work in the tent. Such a peaceful moment before the smell and movement of the tent hits you. Keep safe.
You are both doing an amazing job, well done!👍😊xx
