An orange.
It will be a short blog today as at 02:00 we will be setting of for Lviv for 6 days to see if we can be of any use to authorities there with regards to the Homes for Ukraine scheme. Also taking a woman and child back to Ukraine, who was coming to England, but the call of her family, her husband and her country remains very strong. As it will for many.
Just two moments to describe. We were doing our bit sharing information outside as we do, when this woman and child came up to us, and gave us an orange, obviously one she had got for herself. She thanked us for what we were doing for Ukrainians. And rushed off fighting back the tears. Humbling.
The second is a tale of a pub. I was desperate for the loo, as luck would have it a pub appeared. Went in, and would you believe it, there were Burnley FC memorabilia, posters etc. It turns out that the pub had been bought by a Burnley man, but not only that, he had decided to make a micro brewery. With real bitter on offer. (Don't know why he called it London bitter) it was good though.
I am obviously biased but I am strongly against you going to live in Lviv. I think working in Ukraine should be left to the big organisations, UN, Oxfam,MsansF and the like. The situation is so volatile there that I feel you need a bit of muscle behind you should the situation there suddenly change.

I’m with mum on this, I know that you will do what you feel you need to but it’s one thing to be helping and doing all the good that you’ve been doing from the relative safety of a NATO country. Quite another to cross the border. Stay safe xx
