And a girl dances on.....
Yesterday we heard that the Russian media was saying that the shelling of an apartment block in Kyiv was fake news...we have people here whose family witnessed it. What level of delusional thinking or state propoganda has to exist to believe that?
Today we were on BBC radio Lancashire. Trying to find more sponsors. Unfortunately not one sponsor has come forward yet. Maybe that's it now. We shall see, but we will continue to try and find sponsors.
Next we went to a humanitarian aid centre. In collaboration with a fellow volunteer in Krakow and his friends in the USA, we have $1000 to buy equipment. Mind you, it nearly all went wrong in translation....my fault really....we nearly bought large tea urn boilers, and what was actually required was electric water heaters. Fortunately, the right things will be purchased. Many thanks to A in Krakow.
Following on from this we met with a new recruit to our interpreting team. M was filled with enthusiasm and we hope to meet up with her in her area to see if we can be of any help.
We have a meeting tomorrow night at a large refugee centre. We have been told that there are many families who wish to find safety abroad, having lost everything. Given the lack of sponsors, we will need to be creative to find solutions. At present we are not sure exactly how but we will try.
We went out for a meal this evening with some of our colleagues here in Lviv, all working to try to help people find shelter. Looking at possible options. People thrown together to try and help. Although the situation is difficult, there still seems to be a resolve to carry on.
And so finally the tale of the day. We've mentioned before that this city is a city of music with many buskers. Tonight on the way home, we stopped to listen to a very good group playing. A small girl no more than 5 or 6 was happily dancing to the music. No thought of the war, but just the joy of the music. Complete innocence in a child in a country that is being tormented by a paranoid narcissist with too much power. The dancing of the girl will hopefully be the message of hope in this senseless war.
