One, two, three, four, five, once I caught a fish alive ....

We went to the refugee centre today to share information re the Homes for Ukraine scheme, near the UNICEF tent  who are also based there, providing activities for children. Again there were enough people to keep us busy.

And then the English lesson for the children. They were amazing. Within minutes they were singing along to one, two, three four five once I caught a fish alive.... Smiles and laughter and a Ukrainian who had come for information about our scheme, becoming our ad-hoc translator.

In the late afternoon we helped link a sponsor with a family who wish to come to England. A family with hopes of a good life in another country.

So the tale of the day.....first thing this morning we went to our local market where I think we are starting to be known.  We needed some herbs and spices. So we go to the stall. The woman asks us what are the herbs for? I say fish. She must have 40 herbs and spices.....and she just mixes a small paper bag of various herbs, at least 10. I can't wait to try the mixture.

Being here is a mixture of trying to help, but also about getting to know people, letting them tell their stories. They are just like you and me....but they have had their lives turned upside down by a madman filled with hatred.A disused railway near the refugee centre..
