Know who your friends are....
We try to keep neutral in all we do. But soon, in about a month's time, it appears, we we will need to leave this country...this country that we love with a passion...all the people we have met, the people we have helped move to England, seeking refuge. People who have shared their stories.
Because of the Schengen visa rules and Ukrainian bureaucracy we will need to leave Ukraine.We can't remain.
We know people here that care. We've met with them. Government officials. But do they reach out? Do they answer our questions? We wait for them to answer. They remain silent.
And so to our day..... teaching in the refugee centre with children, simple words like watermelons, and if you like them or not.....yes we do, no we don't :)
Then a further teaching session with enthusiastic youngsters in a cellar in Lviv. This is the only lesson for them that isn't online now.
Then as ever, trying to match sponsors with families.
Persuading English estate agents to show a bit of humanity. Kind benefactors prepared to rent whole houses to house families, and estate agents throwing up difficulties.
Sometimes it seems as if you are hitting your head against a brick wall, either here in Ukraine, or back home in Lancashire. It should be easier.
