Night train to Odesa......
It's to the Ukranians' amazing credit that by and large they have kept the railway network running. Another way they show their indomitable character.
And the train left on time, to the minute. The train will travel some 800 kilometres and take about 12 hours. We arrive in Odesa just before 11 tomorrow morning.
It's Fi's first time in a sleeper train, and we are lucky having a whole compartment to ourselves thanks to a kindly guard. Even gave us free tea when he realised we were volunteers.
Today was mainly doing odds and sods and getting ready for the journey. Tomorrow at 13:00 we are meeting with an organisation who are helping to support between 500 and 700 families every day.
We managed to have a bit of time walking in a semi tended nature park. It was peaceful. And good for us.
We also managed to finalise our arrangements for our English lessons for adults. There is a library near the refugee centre in Lviv and we'll be able to use that.
I'm writing this blog as the train moves through the night and Ukrainian countryside. We have raised some money and hope to spend a good amount of it in Odesa. We suspect that the situation there will be more difficult than in Lviv.
