After some challenging times.....
...we were finally able to do our first aid drop, which felt really good. It was good to meet with people with the same passions as ourselves. We are confident that they will ensure that the aid gets to where it's most needed.
We are hoping that some of the aid, donated by Team Krakow DLA Ukraini, will be further directed to a hospital which works primarily with people with disabilities.
The rest of the day was spent trying to take aid to an orphanage. We were literally thwarted at every turn. First a bridge that had been damaged and couldn't be used, then a 4 km queue at a checkpoint. As time was getting on, we were forced to call it a day.
We don't like being thwarted, but sometimes you realise that there is another day tomorrow...and maybe a possible solution. We covered many miles and it was another long day. It's not the way we planned things but sometimes it just happens.
Mind you we saw some wonderful scenery on our journey and a perfect sunset. We arrived back late to the place where we are staying and, because of the curfew being at 10 pm, all food places close at 9pm. We arrived at a little Italian restaurant...no relaxed candlelit supper here. 3 minutes to order...10 minutes to eat the meal. Plates grabbed as soon as we had the last mouthful. No hanging around for the bill. Start to be ushered out of the door after 20 minutes....and alcohol not allowed to be sold after 8pm. A perfect date!
On a serious note, winter is being weaponised by Russia and Putin. Many electricity substations have be hit, so it's likely that during the winter there will be no heat. This is not only a problem for cities, but makes life incredibly hard for many. Maybe ourselves included.
