Towards the end of a journey....

This morning we enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the amazing Sofiyivsky Park arboretum in Uman, a landmark of world gardening design at the beginning of the 19th century, according to Wikipedia.

We then began our return journey, with a very important stop at the home of Luda, the pensioner who offered us her home for the night when the van we were driving broke down in an isolated village on our outward journey. We had asked Luda about refugee centres in Letychiv, the town where she lives, as she informed us that the town's population of 10,000 has grown to 15,000 with the influx of refugees.

Luda introduced us to Pastor Viktor and his wife, who provide humanitarian aid to Letychiv's refugees and across Ukraine, using a van they've purchased since the war began. They have made up 1,500 carrier bags of food to feed a family for a week. They also bake loaves of bread in a rudimentary oven, for both civilians and the military. Recently, they drove their van with several hundred loaves of bread to the battered city of Bakmut on the eastern frontline. We hope to cooperate with them in our future aid runs.
