Cold...
We drove back to Lviv along roads rutted with snow, in temperaures well below freezing. We had a load to pick up at the warehouse in Lviv for another delivery tomorrow, having returned from an aid drop in Mykolaiv. There was a fair bit of waiting around and, even with the activity of stacking cabbages, apples, etc, I couldn't feel my fingers due to the cold.
But, eventually, we returned to a warm apartment, which is not an option for many thousands of people here. How many people will die from cold is, as yet, unknown and, all we and our aid colleagues can do, is to try to reduce that number with stoves, generators, warm clothing and food.
We have a really good load of aid, mostly food, to take to a refugee community in Letychiv tomorrow.
The final photo is of a graveyard, opposite a petrol station, in a tiny village. In every town and village we pass through we see freshly-dug graves, with flags signifying that these are soldiers who have died - estimated at 2-300 a day. And, so far, at least 437 children have been killed.
