The young and the old

This morning we learned that we would be able to make another aid trip to Odesa, using one of the MAD Foundation minibuses. We are transporting humanitarian aid for the Wales-based UK4UA, which is funding the trip.

Before we collected the bus we kept our commitment to a refugee hostel in Lviv to buy a couple of up market camping stoves. Conditions in the hostel are very basic and they only have one oven for 170 people. The stoves, which use a gas cannister, should help, particularly in power cuts. They were made possible with donations, including from Trawden. Our Trawden4Ukraine poster is in the photo.
The minibus was stored 20km out of Lviv so we had to take a taxi. By the time Bob had driven it to the Catholic University's warehouse in Lviv, where the aid was stored, it was dark. Even then, it was not so easy loading the aid into the van - all 13 seats in the bus had to be removed to make room for it. We had no idea how to do this so we left it to young minds to figure out, which they did. It was then amazing to see the speed, enthusiasm, strength and good humour with which they loaded the van. We mostly stood aside and left them to it.
These are kids (to us) whose university lives have been turned upside down by the war, but who have found a way to support the humanitarian aid effort and, in the process, become experienced packers over the past 8 months! All strength to them....
If anyone is able to make a donation:
1. Open PayPal and, when asked for name of payee or email, enter trawden4ukraine@hotmail.com.

2. Use the collection box in Trawden community shop. This probably remains a challenge, given distance for some. :)

Thank you.
