We do a U-turn

The MAD Foundation van that broke down on the way to Odesa is likely to need major engine repairs that will take about a week. So we were planning to return to Lviv for a few days R and R. We had a load of humanitarian aid brought over by Shaun, UK4UA, and we were presented with two opportunities:
One was to use a van that Wheels for Victory had repaired for Shaun but, as this was the size of a small lorry, I refused to drive it!
The other was to take out the back seats of a much smaller van belonging to our hosts, who run the Ukrainian crafts company, Koza Dereza, and the charity, Wheels for Victory. This worked, especially with a bit of "Blue Peter" imagination and creativity to turn it into a humanitarian aid van!
Having the distinction of being an aid van means that we can jump to the front of the queue at military or police checkpoints.

As we had a small van load of aid that we had earmarked for the family support group in Kyiv, we suddenly thought that it would make economic and environmental sense to take this load straight to Kyiv. Which we did. But we didn't manage to leave Ternopil until 4pm so we didn't make it to Kyiv until 10pm. Then, as we arrived at our hotel, a passerby pointed out that we had an almost flat tyre!

We're too tired to think about this until  the morning and it was, otherwise, an amazing day, with the commitment and cooperation of humanitarian aid groups here and in other countries, near and far. More about this tomorrow...
