Strangers....

The day started at some ungodly hour. We were given a pin drop and asked to be there at 06:00 to collect some aid, to add to the aid we bought with donations we have received.
These people, whom we have never met, unloaded their aid, put it in our van. No questions asked. We think that the aid came from Bulgaria.

Hugs and photos, and off we departed to Kherson. We don't know these people, nor the translator, Lidia, who helped us. But our paths cross. For the greater good.

The journey to Kherson was uneventful and we were able to deliver the first lot of aid, given by the people we met earlier in the day, to an organisation based in Kherson that distributes aid.

The next part, for us, is always the most important. When we can take aid directly to individuals, knowing that it's being distributed to those in need. We took the aid we bought to two people, who ensure it gets distributed appropriately.

We were also able to distribute the adult incontinence pads through another contact. These are practically out of reach for ordinary people. Too expensive. I have no idea how people who need these manage. The state seems to be unable to supply them.

Lena is our contact for distributing these. She worked in a shipping company, now retired, but still retains her English.
All these people we barely know, but are all involved in the work here.

So, moving on....in the van, we often stop to have our lunch. Some places are better than others....
Look at the little sign out of Fiona's window....and now a close up.

Mines....

And, to finish off...a man we saw in Odesa...reminds me of the Ralph McTell song,"Streets of London..."
