A dog's life in Kherson

We bought several bags of dried dog with donations, to support the strays of Kherson. We asked one of our contacts to deliver the food where it's needed. It looks like there were some cats that may not be fussy about eating dog food!

We were told that the woman in the photo below supports sick animals and feeds many street dogs throughout the city, in places where there is shelling - which seems to be most places...

...We read the news of daily shelling, aerial attacks, etc, in all the affected regions (mostly southern and eastern) in the national online newspaper, Suspilne. I don't believe that much of this makes news headlines any where else - only the large missile attacks.

Today, in the morning, the Russian army hit the village of Sofiivtsi in the Stanislav community of Kherson region with a rocket attack. A woman died and a man was injured.

In the afternoon, the Russian military shelled the centre of Kherson. A humanitarian aid headquarters and residential buildings were targeted. Among the injured was an 8-year-old girl.

This is repeated, daily, in all regions close to the frontline. E.g. over the past 24 hours, the Russian military carried out 65 strikes on the Zaporizhzhia region, including an air attack on an educational institution: 13 people were wounded and 7 died.

Today we traveled from Odesa to Ternopil to pick up some aid, after a difficult start with a flat battery. Fortunately, as usual here, a total stranger offered to help us. He was prepared to leave his place of work, get his car and jump leads, take us to our van and get us back on the road. He wouldn't accept any payment, Again the small things that make a difference...

We hope the apparent battery problem will be fixed by the wonderful Wheels of Victory mechanics tomorrow, along with the air conditioning! Ready for our next aid run to Kherson.

  1. Dried dog probably doesn't appeal to dogs, just to cats!!!
