Leaving England...

On the day before we left we did a shift in Trawden community shop, which is staffed by volunteers. It was the 12 - 2pm shift. We realised why this was the only vacant shift on the rota - it's non-stop on Friday lunchtimes, as it's the day of delivery of delicious, fresh samosas and pakoras! But it's much better to be busy, and we were able to chat to people we knew - and those we didn't.
We found that we hadn't completely forgotten how to use the till!

We also realised the extent of the continued support of Trawden community for our work in Ukraine... the collection box in the shop, a dedicated stall at craft fairs and, on an ongoing basis, funds raised from the sale of handmade crafts in the community library...all proceeds to the Ukraine fund. All these, and donations from friends and family, ensure that we can continue to buy much-needed supplies for Kherson on a minimum weekly basis. A special thanks to Jo and Joyce, and to everyone else who supports us in Ukraine.

Bob is already in Ukraine, having crossed the Polish border with a good load of aid, thanks to Paczki dla Ukrainy. He will no doubt give an update in the next few days.

Lastly, at the "Make a Difference" awards in Lancashire yesterday, the winners in our category were "International Search and Rescue - Lancashire." Well deserved. Thank you, Anthea and Olha, for representing us. Anthea said that she was really touched by the number of people who came to say thank you for everything we do, which is  more important than winning an award, really.
