Thoughts are with Ukraine...

... although I'm currently about 3000 kilometres away, visiting my mum in Spain.

First of all, there was a lot of feedback to Bob's post yesterday, which we always appreciate, thank you.
This, from one of our friends in Kherson:
"good post, I also heard about the death of a child, and several tractor drivers in the field were blown up by a mine
...this is a common thing in the Kherson region, we are already used to losses, no matter how strange it sounded"
we have become...more "callous"

What a damning indictment of Putin and his indiscriminate killing machine.

From a great supporter of Ukraine in Wales:
"I feel happy to see the children enjoying themselves as children should. Then I see the heartbreaking news of the six year old death and his sibling seriously injured...it is criminal and must stop."

Yes. And so-called "Ukraine fatigue" must not be an option.
Even those children in the beautiful photos, in yesterday's blog, are not enjoying themselves in the way that ordinary children do. Because of the constant risk from shelling in Kherson, UNICEF activities are always indoors, under artificial light, close to an air raid shelter if needed. They do not play outside, in the sunshine, as children should be able to. Mothers often do not let very young children go anywhere, even to the UNICEF centres, when shelling is at its most intense.

In the Kherson region, the Regional Defense Council has, reportedly, decided on the forced evacuation of families with children from 30 dangerous settlements along the Dnipro River.

I applied for some funding from a small projects organisation, in order for us to have reliable weekly funds to continue delivering fresh vegetables and fruit to the communities of Kherson. Unfortunately, the application was declined. So we continue to rely on your regular donations. Please continue to support if you can by:

1. Opening PayPal and, when asked for name of payee or email, entering trawden4ukraine@hotmail.com

Or, if you live in/near Trawden:
2. Use the Ukraine collection box in Trawden community shop.

Below is a photo of Kherson's Glory Park, as it looks, overgrown and unused, after 569 days of war. And the next photo is an apartment destroyed by shelling in one of Kherson's microdistricts this morning. (Photos from Ukraine's online public broadcasting channel, Suspilne.)
