Delivering aid and other thoughts

A brief catch up of the day before yesterday. At least 52 people were killed in a supermarket in a village in eastern Ukraine - ordinary people, some attending a funeral, some just shopping. That death arrives, whilst choosing what pasta to have, is an obscenity. And more people died in other areas on the same day.
Only one person is ultimately responsible for this - Putin - and his minions who carry out his orders. No remorse will be felt for his actions, which will be justified, as any sociopath justifies his actions
We were in a supermarket in Kherson, following the work of the day. It could have been this supermarket.

This blog is published a day late as we had no WIFI or internet in Kherson last night...
Outgoing artillery fire - or incoming shells - it's not always clear - are exploding not very far from the little house where we have been given shelter for the night. And the air raid siren has sounded. We're quite a long way from the city centre so we thought it might be a bit safer. But nowhere is safe.

We made two aid drops today in 2 vehicles...

...fresh vegetables and fruit to the humanitarian aid centre in Kherson.

...our translator is the coordinator of the UNICEF centre, who always has time for us - and us for him - a young qualified psychologist, who does not know how his life will pan out. But he's wonderful with the children and plays a mean guitar.

Next, to the Lighthouse centre, where we delivered some really good, new winter coats, which will be needed soon, and some other items, from Poland. Then, English lessons in the underground bunker...

Tomorrow we continue with the remaining aid drops and more English lessons with children.
