Preparing for the next aid run...

...this weekend. It's actually going to be a double, or even triple, aid run, with several 'drops,' on Saturday and Sunday:
Fresh vegetables and fruit to the usual humanitarian aid centre.
Household products to one of the communities we support in Kherson. This morning we visited the large Metro shop in Odesa and purchased items from a list provided - so we take exactly what's needed: laundry detergent, washing up liquid, shaving foam, shampoo and torches - and sweets for children - not exactly needed, but they deserve a treat.

Then, I still have the car, Adriana, loaded with aid from Poland, which we'll take to another humanitarian aid centre:

I had a funny (in retrospect!) experience today. I went to rearrange the aid in the Audi (Adriana) and left the small rucksack I was carrying on the nearby pavement. (My mum will not believe this story!) As I worked I noticed an old, very raggedly dressed tramp passing by, with the usual shopping trolley, picking up various items as he went along.
Fifteen minutes or so later, I locked the car and - no rucksack! It contained a strange combination of an English language book, some floor cleaner and a little pot of pasta sauce that Bob had given me for my supper. But still...
To cut a long story short, I found the tramp nearby, digging around in a large rubbish container, his trolley beside him - no sign of the rucksack but I was sure it was him. I got Google translate on my phone, said that I'd lost a blue rucksack and pointed to where I'd left it. He immediately dug down into the rubbish in his shopping trolley and there it was. He seemed apologetic - I think he thought that the rucksack had just been discarded.
When I got home I found that the little pot of food was missing - I hope he likes roasted pepper sauce!

We have had some generous donations, which will contribute to us being able to complete at least two more aid runs before we leave.
Thank you!
