Another Chapter.
To this end, I will on the 15th July be setting off from Trawden in " The Red Squirrel" going overland to Ukraine, taking and collecting aid on the journey. I would like to thank Brookside Garage for giving my car the once over. The journey to Kherson is some 2200km. I will be collecting medicines, as well as other much needed items along the way. Once in Ukraine I will have the use of a vehicle. I hope to be able to make good use of the vehicle, both in delivering aid, and when required, evacuating people who need to move away from the front lines.
Today I went to visit this organisation.
They have been involved in delivering aid since the start of the war. The work they do is amazing. They have already donated several ambulances and other vehicles to help in Ukraine, as well as clothes, pans, sanitary items etc. Today they let me have various items that I will take with me to Ukraine.
A touching moment whist there. A schoolboy appeared. In his last year at school he had to do a project on conflict. Two weeks ago he visited this organisation to learn more about the work they do. Today he visited again, having raised nearly £30 from his friends and teachers for this organisation.
Whilst in Ukraine, I will be concentrating on a few areas of aid.:-
The first is an orphanage. They are not too badly resourced, however are in urgent need of an industrial type washing machine.
The second will be a dog sanctuary very close to the Russian lines, no more than 5 miles away. This is run by a woman with a few volunteers. She does an amazing job in very difficult conditions. There remain so many stray dogs and cats still. Individuals put out food, but that's about it. If the animals are ill, they are often, given the circumstances left to their own devices.
Thirdly I will be once more giving English lessons in Odesa for children, which I hope will be fun.
The area of Kherson and Odesa, as with so many other places remain incredibly dangerous. So much so that two weeks ago, my apartment in Odesa had two windows blown out. Fortunately, the family staying there were not injured. Not so lucky was the apartment block 75 metres away. The missile that hit the building killed 2 people with others injured. Death seems to be so random still in Ukraine. As a civilian, if you live or die seems to rely on luck.
Thank you for your continued support for Ukraine.
As usual any donations please continue to use the box in the shop.
