cooks are us
I have been ever so impressed by the standard of the food in the food tent...given the volumes involved, I'm amazed. However if you are a vegetarian, you might as well go and chomp on a carrot, and never move away from the fruit bar. The other thing is the serving out....after two hours of serving kasha(look it up:) my back was going into spasms....the woman volunteer ladeling on chicken goulash, didn't break sweat after 7 hours non stop. And they didn't skimp with the chicken. Fiona had a mozzarella sandwich. Such is life. Winners and losers in the food stakes. On the food line today,an American cook, in a camper van going to the Ukrainian border to cook.
The good humour of both the volunteers, many now Ukrainians, and those eating the food, makes what could seem like hours, go quickly. The faces remain etched in your mind......
