Homes for Ukraine (H4U) information
Homes for Ukraine is a government scheme for people in the UK to host Ukrainian refugees. It is a fairly DIY process that relies on people registering to be hosts on the government website and then 'finding' refugees to sponsor, e. g. through social media. For a brief overview of this in practice, listen to BBC Radio 4 'Today' programme at time line 2.51 (08:51) on 18.03.2022.
We hope to begin our support on Monday and base ourselves in a large refugee centre, housing 4-5 thousand refugees. We will try to identify Ukrainians who wish to come to the UK.
At this stage, we we'd like to start to identify possible sponsors who can offer a room/house and actively want to go forward with the H4U scheme.
If you are in this position, please email us with your details and what you can offer on trawden4ukraine@hotmail.com. Hopefully, we will will then be able to initiate contact between hosts and Ukrainian refugees.
Obviously, this is very new to us and we'll have to see what the situation is like when we get to Poland. We will respond to email but it may not be immediately.
Many thanks for your ongoing support.
