The best laid plans...
And so today we were supposed to take toys etc to Lviv, driving a van laden with supplies for orphanages.Well, we got to the departure point and I had a look at the van...it may well have been a van in 1970.... today it was a death trap... only one door opened, no fuel cap, no radiator fluid, a windscreen glued on with no fixings, windscreen wipers not working. No reverse gear to talk of. No window would open. No handbrake. Bald tyres. And it just went on....so with a heavy heart we declined to drive it ..The organiser in due course with good Polish humour said that he had found a stunt driver....and that it would make a wonderful molokov cocktail.... again you can't make it up
Discussions with Polish authorities continue. In my opinion it's sad that a scheme that is already made difficult by the UK bureaucratic visa process is made challenging by misunderstandings.
Still we continue.
A bit disconcerting was later, we sat in a square where an ultra right wing organisation was meeting. Fortunately it was sparesly attended...in fact there were more police than people gathering.
Some of our blogs apparently have upset authorities here. We have been asked to remove some of our blog material. In the spirit of trying to work for the benefit of refugees, we have removed the offending blog. It would be interesting to hear your opinion, as to whether it's right to do so.
I guess you have to keep the authority’s happy or they could make your life very difficult at least from the point of view of what you are trying to achieve,
ReplyDeleteAs Steve says, withing reason, it's the goal that really matters.
