Community support

After a shift in Trawden Community Shop we went over the road to the Trawden Arms to thank the landlady, Jo, for her support. We met Bob, DJ (pictured with us below), who lives nearby and donated the proceeds of his last event to helping Ukrainian refugees.

This made me think of all the people who have made a difference:
Anthea, our first sponsor in Trawden, who has become an information point for other sponsor families, and started a hub for families and sponsors that meets once a month.
Trawden Arms community pub offered a free meal to a Ukrainian family, newly arrived, and one of the pub committee members has offered to pay the fee for use of the community centre for the hub once a month.
Red Chair Hairdresser's has offered free haircuts to local Ukrainian families.
Molly, Trawden Volunteer Coordinator, designs lovely posters for us.
Woodheads Bros Meat Co factory in Colne has offered encouragement and employment to Ukrainians, including to a 71-year- old who doesn't want to retire just yet!
Trawden Forest Primary School and Park High School staff and pupils have given warm welcomes - a grandmother of a pupil in Trawden School knitted a teddy in the colours of the Ukrainian flag!
Ambulance Aid donated supplies to the refugee centre where we worked in Krakow.
Then there is everyone who has donated in the past and to our Just Giving site, and
anyone we may have forgotten! Thank you to all.

As someone said to us, we are all in this together.
