Falling into place ....
Today it felt as if we have a clearer idea about what we will be doing. We have made contact with a major distribution hub, based in the old central library, all protected by sandbags, etc. We discussed ways in which we could help them and how they might be able to help us with translators, etc. I offered to do driving when required to Kyiv with supplies.
We also went to the main food kitchen at the railway station. We will help out there part of the time.
Finally, we will continue with the Homes for Ukraine sponsorship scheme in various places.
We have realised that cooperation with other agencies is the way forward....one of us realised this before the other. It's good to be independent, but it's also good to use the expertise and skills of others.
We also realise how persistent and annoying you have to be sometimes to get through the bureaucracy of council systems and organisations.
So many of the Ukrainian people we meet are so grateful for the little that we are doing....it seems completely out of proportion. Again humbling.
Finally, we had our evening walk.... and saw children playing in this water feature. Thoughts of war far away. Playing in the water as children should. Not being bombed and terrified by a man with too much power. How many children will have had their lives changed or ended by this crazy man and this senseless war?
