Finding our feet...
This morning we dodged rain showers in our wonderful local market - an inside and outside warren of different areas that sell almost everything - not cheese, unless we haven't found it yet. Bob took photos in the ornately decorated meat hall and was ordered not to by a security guard. We wondered what was the harm and then thought, as we are obviously foreigners, we could be revealing the site of a very large market where there are a lot of people - a horrible thought but this is a country at war...
We met up with volunteers again at MAD's office. We are liaising with them regarding providing information to refugee centres, avoiding duplicating work whilst maintaining our independence.
We've had two positive responses, including from an aid distribution centre that has given us a list of specific items that are required on, or close to, the front line - always medicines, particularly pain killers, but also things like tea urns.
We're also planning to provide items for children when we're established in refugee centres, remembering that one parent told us to please stop giving sweets to children as they're rotting their teeth! We're taking time to meet with people/organisations here to make sure that funds raised are spent in the best possible way.
