Calling on neighbours and friends.....
We've had so much to do and arrange since getting back.... trying desperately to get our house ready for our guests... trying to jump through the hoops required to share a home with people who have, in some cases lost everything: "Sorry mum, you can't share a room with your daughter because it's 4.4cm smaller than our rules allow" These aren't EU rules, they're our government's.
And in Ukraine, mothers and children have to share, 60 to a room, in refugee centres. Surely we have to have more kindness.
Compare that to the generosity of our local community. I put out a request for bicycles for the families arriving soon. I could open a bicycle shop..... Kind efforts of people on our street to help get our home ready. People offering help. Practicalities when they arrive. A garage that has looked after our ageing car while we've been away. Never asking for anything. Thanks A and G.
And all the others that have helped.
The picture is of me trying to put an Amazon bed together for our guests.....it's a good job that there is no sound on a blog.:)
And a final picture....I have so missed our tiny garden, but was amazed to see this display of roses in the back yard.
