Carpathians
We never expected to be here, in a fairly rudimentary camp at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains, somewhere near a place called Skole. We have been invited for a few days for Bob to teach some English to children who are getting some respite, with their families, from bombing in places like Zaporizhzhia.
However, we arrived late in the day and only had a chance to enjoy the river and mountain scenery, and walk to a local waterfall. And enjoy the company of our medical friend and her daughter, and eat some barbecued fish and vegetables beside a mountain gorge. We felt very lucky until we returned to our room and had to spend half an hour clearing it of midges that had entered the open window.
Hopefully, it will be good for us to have a few days away from the pollution and sirens of Lviv. In some ways it feels as though we are a long way from the war although, on the way, we passed a bridge that had been bombed some months ago.
This morning the MAD volunteers completed the visa applications for a mother and daughter going to Bangor, North Wales. And both the families coming to live with us have had their visas approved.
All sounds good👍😊xx
