Ukrainian flag day...

...is today, as we found out after being sent a photo of a picture drawn by one of our little friends in Lviv.
The colours symbolise blue sky above the yellow field of wheat.

And we also learned today that Ukraine is closing all its main border crossings to cars for 3 months, in order to help get the wheat out of the country by lorry. This will affect our two guests (mother and son) still in Ukraine, who were going to be driven to Krakow by MAD Foundation but now have to take the bus from Lviv, which can be a very long journey, particularly with the border crossing. However, MAD is supporting them as much as they can. When they get over the border they will be driven to Krakow. The two families will stay together overnight and then will be taken to the airport early the next morning.

It will be an anxious 24 hours for them and us, and we're so looking forward to seeing them. In the meantime we continue to be very busy sorting the house, with ongoing help from our financial supporters, as well as neighbours, e.g. who have offered to take the families shopping. It's nice to know that we live in such a welcoming community. May they arrive safely.
