A hard winter is coming for Ukraine

...due to Putin's continued bombing of civilian infrastructure, and killing of innocent civilians including children, is just a byproduct of his actions. It is thought that over 30% of power stations in Ukraine have now been destroyed. Putin will not stop here. Already many areas are without electricity and water. This will only get worse. Another attempt to beat down a population. He literally will stop at nothing.

And so we are currently planning our next aid trip, once more taking aid to makeshift orphanages, not as you might normally envisage them, as this is a time of war. We hope to set out on Friday, getting back to Lviv on Sunday or Monday.

With the damage to the power grid, a lot of thought is being given as to how to keep communities and families warm this coming winter. A fairly basic solution is buying of wood burning stoves. We hope to pick up some on our aid run. It's a drop in the ocean but it's better than nothing.

We continued today, with the help of our translator, N, to talk to another family wanting to come to England. We are specifically looking for a sponsor for a mother, 63, and her daughter, 35. A lovely family. They have been bombed out of their home and have nothing left but a couple of suitcases. In ordinary times the daughter was a solicitor. Now a refugee, sharing a room with 50 other people. If you are able to offer them a space in your home, or know someone who can, then please contact us at trawden4ukraine@hotmail.com

We are also specifically wanting to buy extra food for the orphanages. If you are ble to contribute, no matter how little, then please see the options below:

1. Open PayPal and, when asked for name of payee or email, enter trawden4ukraine@hotmail.com.

2. Use the collection box in Trawden community shop.
