It's Christmas...

Today is the orthodox Ukrainian Christmas Day. So, basically, two Christmases...can you imagine how long Christmas songs are played for? As usual, in Ukraine, things are always complicated, with today's celebration having a more Russian leaning connotation; however, it was very clear that many people were celebrating it. There is a move to try and make 25th December the main celebration, more western looking. This will possibly be another slow transition, if it happens at all.

We have started packing for our trip, first to Krakow tomorrow, and then back to Trawden and Upton on Severn, to catch up with family and friends.

We return to Krakow on 17th January and then Lviv, where we will recommence our aid runs. We have booked our apartment in Lviv until the end of May. There will likely be a lull in our blogs until just before we return to Ukraine.

Merry Christmas to you all again!

  1. Yep, lots of shops were closed today for the Other Christmas. I guess next year will tell us more about how well this goes down as policy. Have a great break. See you soon.
