Stage 3 Bulgaria to Romania - a day in photos

How close can two countries be? - that they share a small office, passing passports over to each other by hand.

We crossed over the blue Danube...
We never thought there would be more lorries in the queue from Romania to Bulgaria, than there are from Ukraine to Poland...but the queue stretched for miles...
We noticed a huge amount of road and bridge building in Romania - it took us ages to get around Bucharest...
Something to remind us of Ukraine...
The northern area of Romania is incredibly flat ( although the foothills of the Carpathians are in the distance) - rape seems to be the main crop...
We stopped for a quick sandwich by a small lake...
As we sat down on a handy bench, a man came up to us and was about to move us on, when he discovered that we were 'not Romanian.' He said that they were waiting for 5000 fish - but it was ok for us to stay.
We had what seems to be the daily 3pm rain storm...
Followed by the customary tea break -  not quite the Ritz...

We're staying overnight in a city called Bacau, about 100 miles from the border with Ukraine - lovely reed beds. A bird spotter's heaven.

And tomorrow the vehicle, Lizzie Resurgent, will be delivered to Ukraine.
