99 loaves of bread delivered...and more

I sometimes go back to a conversation in our back alley in Trawden. When we were back there last time, someone asked us if we make a difference in Ukraine and if it was worthwhile?

Let me tell that person - undoubtedly, yes. Not necessarily in the things we take, although it's always really good aid. But more than the aid, as we have said before, it's about the links we make and the new people we meet.

So today, yesterday's bread that was baked by Pastor Victor in Letychiv, with helpers, was shared in 3 locations in Kherson: a community centre, a hospital and a community in an apartment block, which lives in the midst of a war, not of their own making.
Here at the community centre...

At the hospital...

And in an apartment block where aid is distributed...
At the hospital, we were shocked to hear and see how often it has been attacked by the Russians...who don't target civilians...of course not. Most of the windows are blown out and covered in plywood. Entrances are sandbagged.

We read about the Russian foreign minister, Lavrov, and his blatant lies and threats to the West. Today, he argued that grain exports that have stopped to Africa were a result of Ukrainian actions How can you be so delusional? How can you be such a...?

We were able to drop off other aid, besides. Some, from our Ukrainian friends, some from our Polish friends and some from our Austrian friends...

The children were very happy with a simple box of really nice toys and parents gave a special thanks for some disinfectant spray, a seemingly small thing. This was supplied by an Austrian organisation. Verein fur Weltweite Nothilfe.....

Each organisation needs to promote its efforts, to try to maximise its publicity and get more aid. They rely on us to do this...we might get better at this in time...

So, as usual, as we delivered the aid, the Ukrainians were shelling the Russians and the Russians were shelling Kherson. A mortar landed some 75 yards from us....we hope no one was injured.

Fnally, the real sadnesses that continue here. A school in Donetsk was shelled, killing a teacher and destroying the school.
Following the pizza restaurant killings by the Russians, the 4 children killed in that attack were buried. Open coffins, covered with bridal gowns, as is the tradition here....of what might have been.

In this world of fake news, "we don't target civilians" is not fake news. The Russians do target civilians. Constantly.
