Following on....
...from the admin day yesterday, where I think I lost track at about 11:00am, we completely forgot to mention that we were able to do another plug for aid on Radio Lancashire at 7:00am. We hope that might illicit some additional aid. If you have any items you can donate, please look on Facebook for the Chorley and District Support For Ukraine...They have a warehouse and will ensure items collected are delivered to Ukraine. The contact is Stuart Clewlow.
Today, following on from yesterday's work, we received the aid from Ternopil, mainly from two organisations, the Welsh-based one UK4UA, and an Austrian based organisation we are newly involved with, "Verein für Weltweite Nothilfe." Basically, a charity association for worldwide help in conflict zones. Again, good guys, passionate about what they do. Helping throughout the world, where there's need. And have been around nearly 20 years Georg is the director. We have agreed to improve our German together, starting with the word, "Prost."
A young man, Taras, pictured above, drove all through the night to bring us this aid, in a vehicle destined for military use....enormous doesn't start to describe it. It was a real honour to spend some time with Taras. We were able to have lunch together, before he was heading back to Ternopil on an 11--hour train journey.
This is the passion of people here. No thumping of chests or egos to be nursed. Just getting on and doing what's needed for the greater good of a country. Sometimes, from what we read of what's happening back home, some of our politicians could do with this ability. I suspect it's not likely to happen any time soon.
Tomorrow we go out, early, on another aid run.
Yet another 10 innocent civilians were murdered by a Russian missile attack, on a block of flats in Krivyi Rih today. Another day, another atrocity. We hope that somebody, someday, will be held accountable.
