The everyday.....

And yet it isn't. We are settling into our new home in Odesa. Getting the bits and pieces that will make it a home for us for our time here. And getting to know Odesa. We went to the so called " new market". As usual with most markets in Ukraine, a nice place to spend time in. Lots of lovely fruit and veg, and people happy to try out their
English on us, as we try out our Ukrainian on them.
We spent time working out and making contact with people who will help us clarify what we will be doing over the next few months. We have a broad idea of what we want to try and do.

What's interesting though, is as soon as we mention what we want to do in Kherson, the thing that comes out is that's it's dangerous being there. We don't negate this, but we say that children are still there, and deserve to have some normal time.

This evening as we went for a wander in the centre of Odesa, a woman had brought in her wonderful telescope to the pedestrian area, was happily letting anyone who wished to, to look at the moon. Specifically the Sea of Tranquility. I've never seen anything like it. The contours and details.
Peaceful and quiet.

The other thing we saw was a young couple dancing the tango. Amazing dancers on a bandstand....we could practically have been in Buenos Aires....life goes on... Maybe in a way, two fingers up to Putin. And many, maybe, in their quite ordinary way, believe this. Whether it's a woman selling cheese to us in the market, saying we are strong. Or a locksmith giving us very good service in providing new keys that had been lost.
