War, good god, what is it good for....?

I was going to start the blog with our aid run....but then, seeing a short video on a news telegram channel we follow here, I remembered the song, the title of the blog.
A song by Edwin Starr back in 1970, War good god.... practically northern soul ( our Ukrainian friends please look up northern soul) And then listen to the song....
The video I saw was of Ukrainian soldiers over running a Russian trench. And taking prisoners. Which is amazing, and as it should be. But then I look at the Russians. Young men, probably conscripts with no idea why the hell they are here.

Revolt against Putin has to start from inside, from Russians with a different view and courage of a different world. Given the propaganda in Russia, this is a big ask. But the wall in Berlin did finally fall. Might take awhile...

In the meantime we do our aid drops. With the hope that it does some good. Today we had Sam, Fiona's son, with us. I'm looking for the right words...he's tall and big, and our van isn't. It was cosy.
There was shelling on both sides, as is the norm.....
We took aid to 3 centres where the aid will be distributed.
I look at the photos taken and can't believe these people are being shelled. Their lives constantly threatened. Our Ukrainian friends. War, good God, what is it good for....?
Absolutely nothing.....

There are many moments that I feel unbelievably lucky to be able to help here in Ukraine. And then I got this photo....of family and friends, here working together.... just look at the smiles.....not a country that will be defeated... bombed a few days ago
