Working together...
We have been in Odesa 2 weeks and have managed to start working with 3 voluntary agencies, in delivering aid to Kherson.
To begin with, the centre for internally displaced people (IDP) in Odesa said that we could not take any aid to Kherson from their warehouse, because of the huge number of IDPs they support each month. However, we have got to know them, and Bob has offered English lessons to children and adults. Then there have been the floods and further displaced people, caused by the bursting of the Kakhovka dam. And, now, we have been asked by this centre to take some aid from their warehouse to Kherson - drinking water, food, clothes and bedding.
So now we have a full van for another aid run to Kherson, which is amazing.
And we have a new passenger in the van, who we'll take to one of the UNICEF centres in Kherson...
Also, today, Bob had a 'nosey' into the art school across the road from our apartment. He was welcomed and we have been invited back to look at some of the students' art. Who knows maybe another useful contact has also been made.
I'm hoping for a quiet night tonight, after 3 disturbed nights of sirens and missile attacks.
