Who says humour is dead....
So we had the good fortune of having been put in touch with a garage in Odesa that supports the efforts here in Ukraine. I took it there to fix the air conditioning problem.... basically, a leak in the system.
I met with the chief service engineer who, with a smile on his face, said that the air conditioning now worked perfectly.....but the van had blown its head gasket and could not be used. So another hurdle to jump.
I would like to thank the people who responded to our request for donations to buy food for our next aid run. We have reached the total required. Thanks for all your contributions. We now have to work on a cunning plan as to how to get it to Kherson whilst our van is being repaired...... Deus ex Machina...
The missile attacks continue in Odesa region, both last night and today. Another broken night. More deaths. Russia now seems intent on destroying food storage facilities. Last year, civilian infrastructure. Now they go for food....they really have declared war on the world....and they don't care. And we watch and wait. Someone today said a thing to me that had a terrible ring of truth. Ukraine is paying with its blood to join NATO at some point.
Another interesting thing that I learnt today is that something like 33% of the army is made up of women. Much higher than in many countries. A high proportion of these women are trained and used as snipers. They are considered to be more effective than men....I say nothing.
The only picture in today's blog is of something that I saw.....in a modern city centre, goats being taken somewhere...I love the headscarf....
