Halloween in Kherson

Even before our last trip to Kherson, two weeks ago, preparations for Halloween were well underway at the UNICEF centres. I think staff wanted to give the children, who don't have a lot to look forward to, a special treat.

Halloween at one UNICEF centre was celebrated last weekend...

And yesterday, at one of the other centres, as reported by the coordinator:
"Today we had a very busy day. The children had fun celebrating Halloween at the "Together" point.
We held a master class on making flashlights and a master class on making wind-up dolls from the NGO "United by Love for Children."
During the day, the children assembled legos, played board games, watched cartoons, played chess, built a house, listened to music, played moving games, drew, and did aqua painting..."

"...In the sports hall, they exercised and danced."

These children don't go to school. All lessons are online. Every school in Kherson has been damaged or destroyed, and shelling continues on a daily basis. Two people were killed, both Monday and yesterday.

We miss all the children very much and yesterday sent a little video from us to tell them so.
